Banawe + Binondo Food Trip Part 1

Updated: Nov 1, 2019

I have been wanting to go on a food trip in Banawe and Binondo for some time now. The only problem is finding people to go with since my parents won’t allow me to go on my own. Thankfully, my cousin was available last Saturday. Get ready to join our food tour and discover the yummy restaurants in Banawe and Binondo.

Banawe Food Trip

1. Banawe Soybean Curd

According to my cousin, Banawe Soybean Curd is one of the oldest soybean places in Banawe. In fact, it’s actually one of the best when one craves for soybean. Since both of us didn’t eat breakfast, we decided to have our first meal here. They have different options to choose from – cold taho, hot taho, different flavors. We decided to go for their bestseller which is the cold taho.

What I love about Banawe Soybean Curd is that it is all natural. You also have the option to buy from their store and give it as a gift to a friend or family member. If we were not in a hurry, we could have decided to go back here to buy for the house. There is always a next time!

2. Hugki Dumplings

Right in front of Banawe Soybean Curd is the famous Hugki Dumplings. We ordered their famous steamed kutchay dumplings. We got so fascinated with this restaurant because the food is cheap and yummy! It only cost us 130php w/ 10 pieces! You will feel like you are in heaven while eating their kutchay dumplings.

After our short Banawe foodtrip, we decided to head straight to Binondo. We decided to pass by the Binondo Church to offer a short prayer to the Lord before we resumed to our doings.

3. Lan Zhou La Mien

For our lunch, we decided to eat in Lan Zhou La Mien. It was quite hard to find the place because the signage of the restaurant were in Chinese characters. Just remember that it’s beside Wai Ying.

We decided to have our separate bowls. My cousin ordered the Beef La Mien while I ordered their Mixed Beef La Mien. The only difference is that I have additional toppings like dumplings. My order cost 190php while my cousin’s was around 140php. It’s still cheap due to the size of the bowl and we love the fact how juicy their beef is and how flavorful their noodles is. Expect us to go back here! (but of course, we will be sharing one order by then since we got full easily)

4. Dong Bei Dumplings

Since we were too full from our meal in Lan Zhou La Mien, we decided that Dong Bei be our last restaurant stop for the day. We ordered another kutchay dumplings. This time, they had 14 pieces! It only costs us around 150php. Such a steal right?! We were supposed to order their Xiao Long Bao as well but it was not available that time. This gives us the reason to go back here!

This is Part 1 of our Banawe and Binondo Food Trip. We are definitely going back to discover more restaurants in the area! Stay tuned for more foodie adventures!
