Day 6, May 9
The day before we left Bacolod, we decided to do something that is unexpected of us. We decided to go mountain climbing ! It was a different set of adventure I’ve experienced with mountain climbing. The place we had to go to was called Mambukal Mountain Resort.
To start off our day, we had to be awake at least by 5am to get ready with our things and leave going to the “bus-jeep” station. Around 6am, we arrived at the station and waited for another hour before we can actually leave going to Murcia, Bacolod. It took us a good 30 minutes to arrive the said place. We had to pay 50php for the entrance fee (not bad), then off we went for our adventure !
Upon arriving, we fell in love with the place ! Trees were surrounding us everywhere and you can hear birds chirping as well. What annoyed me though was the smell of sulfur – warm sulfur pool. I found out from my cousin that if you’re planning to stay overnight, there’s a cottage that costs 1,800 for 8 people. The prices are not bad at all because it will be easy for the barkada to cash out money and divide it within themselves.
In order to reach the falls (1st-7th fall), you have to go hiking. Since I made a promise to myself to be adventurous, then why the heck not try it?! The climb was challenging and tiring but worth it ! Hiking took us a good 30 minutes to reach the 6th falls. Just a trivia : to hike til the 6th falls is already 1,600 ft. above sea level ! What more if we went up til the 7th fall. Note : If you’re the type of person who’s not used to extreme physical movement, then I suggest that you don’t even think of going to the falls.
Upon arriving at the 6th fall, I felt like I was in heaven ! The water was very cold and there’s an area where you can do a mini cliff diving ! At last, this was ticked off my bucketlist <3 It was such a memorable experience that I asked one of my cousins to take a video of me going to cliff dive LOL.
We decided to go back around 12pm since my cousin had summer classes around 1pm. Instead of hiking down, we decided to ride the habal-habal (motorcycle). Again, it was another first for me. In Manila, I don’t get to experience riding a motorcycle because we have a car, no one in my family knows how to drive a motorcycle and dangerous ! I loved the fact that while riding the habal-habal, you can feel the wind through your face and hair and imagining like you’re in some kind of movie hahahah!
To sum it all up, Mambukal Resort is a place for people who are game to be adventurous to try their cool and amazing waterfalls. Yet, if you just want some relaxation, there are pools available.
This travel, I must say is the highlight of my summer vacation. Having this kind of trip does not happen all the time. Lots of preparation is needed and money to spend. But then again, if you want something adventurous, you can do it spontaneously and plan it last minute. I hope to go back to Bacolod to enjoy the food and the unforgettable moments done in this place.
