Tamagoya! Noodle House: Ramen Cravings Satisfied

It is everyone’s dream to go to Japan and savor Japanese cuisine. Maybe it is due to their way of cooking and how they prepare their dishes. Also, to love Japanese food is through understanding their way of life. Since I love and appreciate Japanese cuisine, it is a MUST for me to discover Japanese restaurants in the Metro and I try to look for a restaurant that can be at par with the restaurants in Japan.

Last Sunday (September 10, 2017), my dad brought us to Tamagoya! Noodle House. This hidden Japanese restaurant is located at lower Antipolo. In order for you to get here, you can trust Waze to give you directions for this place. For you to fully understand how the restaurant came to be, allow me to share a brief history.

4 years ago, the owners of the building decided to turn it into a restaurant which is now known as Tamagoya! Noodle House. Tamago in Japanese means “Egg House”. Their main ingredient to create their dishes all comes from egg. Even their noodles comes from eggs and they do their noodles by scratch.

Upon arriving at the restaurant, I couldn’t keep my composure. First of all, I have been craving ramen for like FOREVER and I was finally going to have my ramen fix. Second, it was a new discovery which I thought only a few knew of this. Third, my dad went here already and he told me how yummy their gyoza and ramen was. So, it was high time for us to order!

E X P E R I E N C E

The following were the dishes we ordered:

  1. Mabo and Gomoku-Nanban Ramen

  2. Ebi Katsudon

  3. Ebi Fry

  4. Yaki Gyoza: They have two options which consists of chicken and pork

  5. Vegetable Salad

The Gomoku-Nanban Ramen (which I ordered) consists of noodles with hot & spicy mixed vegetables & seafood whereas the Mabo (which my dad ordered) consists of noodles with chili miso-based soup topped with stir-fried tofu and ground pork. I decided to order the Gomoku-Nanban Ramen because as per the staff, this dish is one of their bestsellers when it comes to spicy ramen. A lot of people actually do not know that I appreciate spicy food. I just don’t order any spicy dishes because I want to be able to savor the moment while eating.

In all honesty, I really enjoyed my dish. I was expecting it to be really spicy (yung tipo mapapainom ako ng madaming tubig HAHAHAHA). I could definitely say that it was a mild spicy level. The soup has this rich flavor which makes it different from other ramen joints. With their noodles, it was thick and tasty which is evident that one of their ingredients used is egg. For its size, it is worth it! If other ramen joints would cost around 300-400php, Tamagoya’s ramens are half the price. If you are not a heavy eater, you can definitely share your dish. Since I am the type of person who enjoys eating, it is a MUST for me to have one bowl for myself.

For the Yaki Gyoza as appetizer, we ordered both the chicken and pork. The chicken and pork gyoza were cooked well. The gyozas are also served with tasty sauce. Even though you don’t put any sauce on your gyoza, it will still taste great.

The Ebi Katsudon is the best I have ever tasted. In other Japanese restaurants, the Katsudon tends to have this umay factor. In Tamagoya, the dish was tasty & it wasn’t that oily. Upon first bite, I could definitely say that this will be my favorite katsudon.

For the others, I had to ask my mom and dad. My mom ordered the Vegetable Salad & Ebi Fry. My mom found both dishes yummy. What brought flavor to the salad is their sauce. For dad’s order, he also found the soup with rich flavor.

When it comes to the interior of the restaurant, I observed that the design they followed is how a typical Japanese restaurant would look like in Japan. The staffs were courteous and would bow as a sign of respect. They don’t recommend customers to give out tips. It’s their pleasure to satisfy their customers. Before you leave the restaurant, you will have to pay at the cashier that is located near the exit.


Overall, we had a pleasurable meal in Tamagoya. I recommend this restaurant for everyone to try even though it is quite far. I tell you, it is worth the drive & commute. 🙂
