The City of Smiles Part 3

Now I can finally blog again! I am truly sorry for not being able to update because a lot of events happened last June. Don’t worry, I’ll be blogging about them because it is such an achievement for me.

Day 3, May 5

This day was a Monday so we kind of had a chill and adventure day. My cousin had summer classes so I had to let her attend since I don’t want to be a bad influence towards my younger cousins.

While waiting for her class to end, we decided to have late breakfast + lunch (BRUNCH) at 21 Restaurant. According to my cousin, this restaurant is already fine dining. It is fine dining since the interior and ambiance of the place felt chic and classic. White linens and respectable waiters were there.

What I ordered in this restaurant were their famous “Batchoy” & Pasta Ricardo. These two orders were “sinfully delicious”. Sinful because of its size! We never expected the servings to be BIG! We expected the servings to be like the ones in MNL. When they said that it’s good for 1 person, they meant good for 2 people (that is if you’re not a heavy eater). You can also never go wrong with their prices! Though they offer big meals, it is very sulit and affordable. I remembered their batchoy costs 75php & the pasta was around 190+. You’ll surely leave their restaurant with a full stomach.

Oh so famous Batchoy

Pasta Ricardo

Once my cousin ended her class, this was where the adventure started ! We decided to go to The Ruins, located in Talisay City. So how did the The Ruins become to be a must-see place in Bacolod? The owner of this home was Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson, who was a wealthy sugar baron. The reason this house was built was for his wife, Maria Braga. During World War II, the Japanese wanted to use this house as their base camp. Of course Don Mariano didn’t want to. So, the house was burnt down so that the Japanese won’t be able to use it. It was later found out that one of their gardeners was actually a Japanese spy.

Some info :

The house is made out of egg yolk that is why when sunset comes, the walls would usually glow.

* The house is known as the Taj Mahal of the Philippines.

* If you’ve watched the first few episodes of Ikaw Lamang, a Filipino TV show, they shot some scenes here. They were even the ones who paid and maintained the garden.
